This exceptional area comprises from one country called Šibenik – Kninn county. As the name says it has got it after two biggest cities, the city of Šibenik, main city of this area and the old royal tow with even greater importance in the past the town. Two cities which make this county, and the county divided in three parts: Hinterland are Dalmatinska Zagora with towns Knin and Drniš the part of islands are ( Murter, Prvić, Zlanin, Krpanj, Žirje ) and the coastal area of course with Šibenik in its centre.

Except of many natural and cultural beauties this county is also known by the Croatian oldest great coastal city which was founded during the kings Krešimir IV rule and interesting is the fact that even today Šibenik is known as “ Krešimirs city “ The king Kršimir IV ruled in the 11th century. If Šibenik is the firs great Croatian coastal city than, Knin for sure has something to be proud of. Knin was the royal town and even of greater importance in the past, located in the hinterland of Dalmatinska zagora.

The area of Šibenik – Dalmatia has a specific significance to the history of Croatia. The numerous cultural and historical monuments, starting from the earlier stages of civilization until today. Illyrian, Roman archaeological localities added by a very large monuments of the medieval period which those from 15th and 16thare arguably the most valuable. Šibenik Cathedral is known as the most valuable single monument which is also under UNESCO protection and is pride of this area. The name is Cathedral of St.James, whose building took above 100 years to be finished. The city of Šibenik has to thank for this brilliance of building to Georgius Dalmaticus or in Croatian Juraj Dalmatinac, while the dome was completed by Nikola Firentinac.

The difference between city of Šibenik on one side and the coast line with islands is that the last two do not have as many as it does the city Šibenik. Interesting place is Primošten which attracts very much with its rich folk heritage. Primošen is a small town located an a peninsula. As every town has something to be proud of this also has and Primošen. The wide wine yards around the town are a true pearl whose value was confirmed in the exhibition „ Flora 2000 „ organized in Japan by winning the gold medal .The islands of this area are mostly small fisherman villages with wooden boats etc.

The Dalmatinska zagora area is also very rich with natural, cultural and historical heritage, dating since the times of Antiquity and the early middle ages. Some of the most important localities are surely located in Bribirska glavica surrounded by two millennium old Illyrian walls, after that of Roman and in the end Croatian. Since ever localities near the rivers have been centers of oldest civilization this happened also bear the river of Krka and it’s canyon where the locality of Burmun is. In this locality are the remains of on old camp from Roman period built on older Illyrian site.

Another locality near the city of Šibenik called Danilo has the remains of an very old prehistoric settlement. The highest Croatian mountain is located in this area and is called Dinara. On the foot of this mountain is built the magnificent church of Christ the Saviour, which is the oldest Croatian church with preserved towers.
